Our guests at SOR are passionate motorcyclists who have a deep love for off-road riding. They appreciate the value of premium-level accommodations, meals, and personalized service. Our riders typically fall within the age range of 40 to late 60s, with a few being slightly younger or older. They are predominantly successful retired individuals or professionals who have the flexibility to embark on such trips and possess the financial means to do so. Around one-third of our riders are couples who enjoy riding together, and occasionally, one of them may opt to ride in our comfortable support vehicle. It varies depending on road conditions and attractions along our route. Many days include fewer than 150 kilometers of riding, and it’s unusual for any day to exceed 250 kilometers. Our trips are designed to provide a very balanced mix of sightseeing and riding. The schedule provides time for a nice breakfast, packed lunch, some sightseeing, and arrival at the destination in time for some local sightseeing and relaxation before dinner. We usually arrive at our destination by about 4:30 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

To participate in our tours, it is essential to possess a valid motorcycle operator's license along with prior off-road riding experience. We generally cover an average of 200 kilometers per day, occasionally having longer days. For our Khovsgol and Altai Tavan Bogd adventures, advanced off-road riding experience is required, which may include completing a training program specifically designed for off-road riding. If you have any concerns about your level of experience and its suitability for the trip, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are more than happy to assist you and provide further guidance.

Our tours are carefully designed to include ample rest time after riding. In certain tours, we intentionally schedule two nights in specific locations that hold unique attractions, allowing you the option to spend additional time exploring. If you prefer not to ride on those particular days, you have the flexibility to engage in alternative activities such as horseback or camelback riding, fishing, or even swimming. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and we strive to provide a diverse range of options to accommodate your preferences and ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience.

It is mandatory to ride with our tour leader and the road team. Our experienced tour leader possesses comprehensive knowledge of the terrain on our tours, which undergoes changes annually due to factors like snowmelt. Roads that were deemed safe for riding in previous years can become hazardous. Riding with our tour leader ensures your safety and allows you to benefit from their expertise in navigating the current conditions of the routes.

Our road team utilizes comfortable Toyota Land Cruisers that are equipped with spare parts and tools essential for addressing any potential issues that may arise during the tour. Additionally, each rider or non-rider is permitted to store one medium-sized luggage, weighing up to 12 kilograms, in the support vehicle. 

Our support vehicles are designed to offer ample space and comfort, accommodating up to two non-riding companions. Guests who choose to pay the same rate as a rider will have a guaranteed reservation in the support vehicle. However, guests who opt for the co-rider rate may join the support vehicle if there is available space, but their reservation is not guaranteed.

It isn’t necessary, our tour leader will guide the whole crew from one point to another and the support vehicle will act as a sweep rider.

Tours are limited to 10 motorcycles plus the tour leader. We think customers will prefer the more custom, intimate nature of a trip with fewer motorcycles. We will accommodate more riders if the trip is for a private group.

The tour price includes lodging based on double occupancy, daily meals by our SOR chef during the tour, hotel breakfast, welcoming and farewell dinners, hotel transfers, use of a motorcycle, fuel costs for the motorcycle, and refreshments like cold bottled water, soda, and chilled beer during the evening. Riders wishing to reserve private accommodations may do so by adding a single room supplement to the cost of their trip. Depending on the tour selected, special activities may be included, such as airfare/motorcycle relocation to the starting city, game drives, admission to National Parks, etc. Consult individual tour descriptions for details. The tour price also includes the SOR surprise bag.

The tour price does not include medical evacuation costs. It can be covered by your insurance(Ask your insurance company if it covers off-road motorcycle riding in Asia).

Accommodations range from comfortable, mid-range hotels and ger camps to luxurious hotels, depending on the availability along our route. Rest assured that all accommodations will be clean, safe, and enjoyable. The standard tour price covers double occupancy, but you have the option to reserve a private room by paying an upgrade fee.

Our base tour price is based on double occupancy and there is an additional charge if a rider requests a private room, or if we are not able to match the rider up with another who wishes to share a room. Virtually all hotels either charge the same amount for a room that is occupied by one or two people, or they provide only a modest discount for a room occupied by only one person. 

The surcharge for a private room is calculated only to cover the additional cost that we incur for accommodations when only one person occupies a room.

We will make every effort to expedite the repair process. However, please note that we are not obligated to provide a replacement motorcycle if it becomes inoperable as a result of a traffic accident.

We kindly request that you adhere to the laws of the country in which we are riding and conduct yourself responsibly to ensure the safety of both yourself and fellow group members. It is imperative that you abstain from consuming alcoholic beverages until after your motorcycle has been safely parked for the evening. Riding privileges will be suspended for any individual found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Please be aware that if a rider operates the motorcycle after consuming alcohol or using any mind-altering substance, the damage waiver previously signed by the rider will be deemed null and void. Consequently, the rider will assume unlimited liability for any damage caused to the motorcycle. We strongly advise reading our Terms and Conditions thoroughly for further information.

We suggest you bring the same riding gear you would use during a long trip at home: helmet, boots, gloves, and riding suit. A rain suit will be provided if your riding suit isn’t waterproof. Other suggestions, such as especially warm or cold weather clothing requirements, depending upon the location and time of the trip. You can get the information during the booking stage of the tour.

Our tour leaders are equipped with cellular phones and/or satellite phones, enabling them to receive calls while in the support vehicle throughout the day, as well as at the hotels during the evening. To facilitate communication, you will be provided with an eSIM. Please ensure that your phone is compatible with eSIM functionality for seamless connectivity.

It is not accurate to simply divide the cost of the tour by the number of days listed in a catalog or on a website. Other tour operators often include travel days to and from the departure point within the overall tour length. To make a fair comparison between similar trips, it is recommended to divide the tour price by the number of nights of included lodging. Another approach is to compare the number of destinations visited. In comparison to most other companies that offer tours of shorter duration, our tours cover a more extensive range. Furthermore, you may find that some companies charge nearly the same amount for a passenger as they do for a rider. In contrast, SOR charges a relatively modest fee for passengers.

Yes, there are incentives for taking two of our tours back-to-back. If there is a gap of a few days between the tours, we will cover the cost of lodging during that period. However, please note that you will be responsible for covering your own meals and additional expenses during the days between the tours.

We highly recommend securing trip cancellation/interruption insurance from an insurance company. This coverage ensures that you receive a refund in the event that you are unable to embark on or complete the trip due to qualifying circumstances.
